    The Holdovers

this tasteful film was not only shot with perfect symmetry, but thoughtfully executed with sympathy. dominic sessa stole the spotlight with his taunting behavior, but the depth that da’vine joy randolph’s character introduces - was unforgettable. paul giamatti’s performance implies an insensitive undertone, at first (met with comic relief), but the trio forms a family-unit dynamic that warms your heart right up. the score and soundtrack was down-to-earth, the plot was emotionally satisfying, and alexander payne connects the audience to the acclaimed protagonist with style.
