Sinbad 1971
Striking visual effects and camera work, costumes, and setting all make this mesmerising. I found the tone and characters more hit and miss: sometimes it was so poignant and melancholic, other times I felt slightly detached and unaffected. Feels like everything just floats in and out of existence, and my memory of the film is already correspondingly hazy – but the parting impression is beautiful, if somewhat unclear.

Tense and brooding, with a dosage of absurdist humour. For practically all of this there's a slightly sickening feeling in your stomach - waiting for the event at the beginning, then waiting for the effects afterwards.
