Everything about Fantastic Planet feels like a surrealistic fever dream while grounding us in a tale told like a folklore shared by word of mouth. I would love to get my hands on the conceptual art that went behind fleshing out this adaptation .
This hidden gem of an anthology isn't for everyone, I admit, but its one of those films I could have mistaken for a very vivid dream if this isn't telling enough. Visually breathtaking and clearly a collaborative passion project of animation for the sake of animation.
The type of film anyone who feels they haven't accomplished enough with their life needs to see. It's existentialism but seen at refreshing optimistic angle.
