An aggressive tale about horrible people told with great skill. Driven by Sandler's highly expressive performance, Uncut Gems is a masterclass in gut-wrenching tension, illiciting a stronger emotional reaction to dramatic circumstances than I am usually prone to feeling in this modern day of the mediocre and the Marvel. I enjoyed this movie far more than the previous Safdie brother's crime romp, Good Time, though I believe fans of that one will thoroughly enjoy this improved version.
