  That final shot, "I'm ready for my close-up". A wistful and unhinged glare is all that's left.
  It made me think of a line from Joanna Newsom that says, 'Bleeding out your days in the river of time', which is exactly what Norma Desmond is doing in that chimp-less mansion.
  Norma's life has been heard of so many times before, but never this unchanging, life-lived bruise that she wears on her forehead.

  Eleanor Coppola's heart-fuelled showcase of a documentary is not a behind the scenes look, or a fly on the wall, 'here you go' type document. It's more a view of someone who is so impulsive and versatile, becoming immensely scattered. 

  
  The joy is in watching the spectacle of this mess, and knowing what comes of it.
