it truly is really fucking good, an incredible achievement of filmmaking, but part of me can’t help but be forever disappointed we can never see the Moebius-storyboarded, Jodorowsky-directed Dune. yeah Christopher Walken was great as the emperor but what if it had been Salvador Dali??

lanthimos does this thing in every film that i would call deadpan exaggeration... taking things to their illogical extreme, but somehow in a way that has absolutely no camp sensibility. for some reason it just doesn’t always vibe with me. i really get this and appreciate it conceptually, but the whole time i was just thinking “wow. this is fucked” through every scene and not having that much fun with it.
