Criminally overrated. I feel sorry for those who liked it but I find it really boring. A lot of things happen, but not interesting things, who cares for example about the whole subplot in Italy. I feel like it's a film of pure entertainment (sure, well done), but without any key to understanding that reveals a deeper meaning. It's amazing how you can deal with the same subject with diametrically opposed styles: this film and Requiem for a dream are truly two sides of the same coin. All in all, in my humble opinion, Aronofsky's film is better for how it makes you perceive the anguish, but I also understand that anguish is not the aim of this film. However, even though I found it a bit boring, there are some very interesting scenes... and I'm referring to that series of phenomenal sequences when he stops taking drugs and suffers in his bed; I loved that part, it really left me speechless.

Beau Is Afraid 2023
You don't understand anything, but at the same time everything makes perfect sense. Every scene that seems unnecessary, can't be removed. Watching especially the first half you realize that you are in front of one of the highest peaks in the history of cinema. This film is sensational. Ari Aster is a genius.
