What a spectacle! Eggers, again, proves his mastery of visual storytelling. Nosferatu is a great, slow-burn film with powerful performances by each and every cast member.
Eggers maintains an atmosphere that is heavy and present through the entirety of the film. I was immediately in the world from the very beginning, and it never had me disinterested. So glad I caught this one in the theater.
It really was a slog to get through. The performances were uninspired, and it felt like set pieces without a strong story.
I’ve seen this film so many times, but a recent trip to Dallas for a hire convention had me thinking about it again. To me, this is a perfect slasher film. Great pacing, timeless characters, a sense of suspense (even after all these years), great sound, fantastic performances.
It was a game-changer, and has rightfully earned its place among the top horror films of all time.
Some funny one liners and word play are really the only bright spots here in this one. It’s low budget, and that always comes with a certain level of taste anyway, but I can say I’ve seen this one, which is enough for me.
