More of a snapshot than a fully-realized film, you know what I mean?  I was just so unsatisfied by the ending despite rooting for these characters the whole way through

Riveting but the message fell flat for me. There is a way to be tough and demanding without calling someone a Hymie or a f*gg*t. That so many men don’t really understand this makes me feel sorry for them, because when they inevitably burn out and break down from the abuse, they think it’s their fault for not being strong enough. And this movie just sort of exists to validate that

One long advertisement for wildlife trafficking where the protesters (the heroes) are portrayed as villains. I’m not usually one to call a film “harmful” but giving disabled audiences false hope is pretty awful, given that “service monkeys” will never ever be legal or ethical. The only real impact this cheesy film will have is inspiring audiences to want monkeys as pets and to line the pockets of Tiger King wannabes who sell abused animals. Wish I could give negative stars

Ok sure, maybe this random movie I found on Kanopy could have benefited from more self-awareness and not same tropes about “enlightenment” but maybe that’s PART of the fascination. It really is that banal sense of something “more to life” and that common yearning to locate our “truest self” that can drive a person to join… a sex cult.

    Couldn’t stop watching
