Didn’t expect this to be an absurdist comedy going in, but I didn’t mind it overall. The comedic timing was solid for the most part, the biggest flaw with the film is that it has no focus. I was hoping for a character study featuring Robert Pattinson as the focus dealing with the morality and consequences of being reprinted and having a clone of himself, and it starts off just like that, but again through the lenses of an absurdist…

It’s been a while since I saw this, and honestly it’s a lot better than I remember. The pacing is so good there was never a moment I was bored, barring the longish Batmobile roof sequence that kinda dragged. Besides that, some poorly edited/choreographed action fights, and some infrequent “comedic” one-liners that are thrown in, this film was fundamentally near-perfect. *Takato getting beaten by Rika with a wrench*
    Rika: “I want to sing”
Takato: “Here’s an idea, you put that down, and I’ll sing with you”

Regardless you won’t get anything outta this movie unless you’ve watched Digimon Tamers, which is actually a great show, the english dub isn’t bad at all. Steve Blum was in charge of the voice direction and localization and it really shows.

Serviceable to a tee. The concept has potential, like most YA content, with the possibility for some interesting settings and action set pieces intertwined with some compelling character work. Unfortunately, the film focuses more on the conflict and less on the characters themselves, making it hard to connect and feel for them when the crap hits the fan. There are plenty of YA tropes abound (pointless lingo, 30 year olds pretending to be teens, shallow relationships, characters set up as…
