Megamind vs. the Doom Syndicate 2024
Yes I watched this on a date, no I don’t even remember who i was with, which could be a blessing in disguise.
Anyway, this is barely a movie. To my understanding this is more of a pilot for a megamind show, much like the penguins of Madagascar. In that sense, it’s a competent enough… concept? Are the villains supposed to hold their own for more episodes than this one? Very weak, and the marketing pushed to appeal to zoomers…Translated from by -

Honestly, being the first movie I watched with my hs partner, I should I’ve seen the red flags coming…
Anyways on to the actual review: pretty dreadful and sleazy, in a way I can only describe it as the old guy who’s ogling you at the bus stop would be. Less of a “hell yeah” movie more of a “oh… ew…”Date?: 1/5 because he ended up being pretty gross too. Broke up w me via text too so kinda Ls all around

The Substance 2024
Truly grotesque… which is why I love it. Being new into the horror genre I can only admire a film that makes its sounds of perforated skin make my brain tingle in displeasure and awe (in a great way!). Absolute marvel, my only complaint would be the movie not delving more into more dynamics between characters other than Sue and Elizabeth… would’ve been cool to perhaps see hierarchies al a ‘girl world’ style, eh maybe I’m going over my head. Movie was great.
