It's a great film technically. But it's just so racist. I mean, so racist. Well-plotted, fantastic shots, great scenery, and so racist.
A pretty good Chaplin film. There are definitely a bunch of scenes early on with great physical comedy that made me laugh out loud, but the second half dragged on and the final boxing match itself was just chaos and not that funny. Glad i watched it though.
Only print was destroyed, so unfortunately a lost film, but the first feature film of Chinese cinema. What a loss.
The best documentary film I have seen in the pre-1907 period. The show "How It's Made" is basically a modern version of this film. Surprisingly entertaining and engaging, it really captures the factory process and environment. Moreover, it captures the time period, and the quality of the preserved footage makes it really come alive.
