did they skip 500 pages of the book? yes.
was everyone including the fremen just some white people? yes.
did it not capture a single message from the book? yes.
should they have made this in the 80s? no.
dune is not an easily adapted book, and while it was a valiant-ish effort, it fell quite flat.
horrible pacing, felt like a ten minute movie the way they moved so quickly through it (even though it was 2+ hours)

sam wilson is an interesting character. whatever. movie is barely about him. more hulk. perfect 👍
scary. tight in my chest the whole time. first jump scare made me know i did not come prepared emough. more jump scares than i thought.
loved the cinematography big time. loved all of willem dafoes dialogue i feel like that’s where you find what the story actually is (probably wrong).
great performances all around. aaron taylor johnson plays a perfectly well done up chap I do say.
right in my wheelhouse: great music (mostly folk), johnny cash, anti war, timothee chalamet, etc.
as a movie, everything was pretty surface level. the main relationship doesn’t really make you feel all that much but i don’t think that was the main point of the movie. it was still there though, so it should’ve been at least a little deeper.
