Brad Anderson did a phenomenal job at giving me a restless, psychotic feeling throughout this film. I somehow felt just like Christian Bale, completely out of my mind. I can feel the drag of each cigarette, the sickly 5% body fat that Bale holds, his complex relationship with improvement and going backwards in progress, and more. It’s hard to explain why I love these films, because they’re hard to watch over and over, but they touch onto a corner of the human mind that other films don’t itch. I am beyond obsessed by the duo that was never meant to be, that Adam Diver and John David Washington bring to life. I’ve been familiar with Adam’s work, so to see him and how phenomenal he is be asked of a non-protagonist role, I questioned; and John reassured.
