Deeply unsettling with quietness. I watched Pulse a year ago by the same director, and it carried a very similar still atmosphere that just bleeds discomfort and loneliness in a way I've never felt or seen before in a movie. The simple, long takes and wide shots that refuse to cut during dialogue or movement keeps you in the discomfort.
I was really looking for evil in the smallest things like the lighter or curtains or any appearance of water.…
The visual effects are incredible for a $15M movie. No wonder it won the Oscar for it.
The action scenes and Godzilla's appearances were terrifying and the climax capped it off perfectly. The character drama was beautiful, and through it the movie built its themes about a post nuclear world full of hopelessness really well.
A BANGER, all the way through. Wish more action movies were like this.
