  Other sci-fi movies/series that this movie made me want to watch.

  Severance 

  Because it was trying to hit on all those themes (or imitating their worlds), but it didn’t land. I don’t know if my problem should be with the movie or the source material. The movie was way too long.

  A Real Pain 2024

  Just real people growing or not growing. Maybe just doing their thing. As PK has already mentioned the last scene wraps it all up nicely. Just two guys on the edge of nervous breakdown that kind of comes. Love how Kieran Culkin goes from being funny to being dead serious. Definitely a great performance. Also written and directed by Mr. Eisenberg reminds me that he is undervalued.

  I'm going to have to let this marinate for a while. What do we allow for genius? I know this term is over used, but this movie is truly a tour de force. A stellar performance from Cate Blanchett. Superb sound direction and cinematography. The suspense, the intrigue, the humanity, the power. You never know who the hunter and hunted are.

  Whiplash or “In Praise of No Praise.” Push, push, push is what JK Simmons advocates for in this movie. Don’t let up (ever!) and you’ll be great. I appreciated how this movie addressed the question of how far is too far. Watching this movie through the lens of workplace abuse helped me understand the relationship between Simmons and Teller. Great that the movie has an ambiguous ending, leaving viewers unsure how the relationship between teacher and student; abuser and abusee, is left.
