A Real Pain is a character drama that succeeds off the strength of its simplicity and amazing lead performances. Kieran Culkin is awesome in everything that he is, but this might be his best work to date. He is of course charismatic and energetic, really taking to the witty Sorkin-esque dialogue of Eisenberg’s script, but he is also soul-crushing and tear-jerking as a crippled man who’s been beaten down by addiction.

I'm in tears at how masterful this film truly is. Greg Fraiser's cinematography and the set pieces staged by maestro Denis Villeneuve are nothing short of breathtaking and otherworldly. The attention to detail and perspective in each shot of this movie is awe-inspiring, the action sequences are the most exciting I've seen in a blockbuster of this kind since Lord of the rings, the film is a technical marvel without any restraint.
