I cannot think of another modern filmmaker that tells a story with as much originality as Alice Rohrwacher. Her films flow like poetry, wandering much like her protagonists seemingly without direction yet nevertheless exudes grace and beauty. She tackles some weighty subject matters but does it in such with such humility and quirkiness. Her style is unmistakable.
The use of sounds and equally the lack of established such a strong tone for the whole movie. Even without any understanding of its underlying themes or symbols one could fully immerse in its emotional expression.
