There’s so much to this film, it’s hard to break it down. Visually it’s stunning. The tense atmosphere is wonderfully enhanced by the dramatic lighting and detailed sound design. The set design is insane, one second your surrounded by decaying yet elegant architecture and fresco paintings, next second your in a well lit modern marble hallway that straight-up belongs in a sci-fi villain’s lair.

“there are still faint glimmers of civilisation left in this barbaric slaughterhouse that was once known as humanity”… and this film is one of them

I remember, having never seen a live action Wes Anderson film before, being blown away on my first watch, immediately falling in love with his style.
On the rewatch I’m still blown away. Every frame of this film belongs in the Louvre, it’s honestly frustrating how stunning it is.
Not only the design, but the writing, the eccentric characters, the witty dialogue, the ridiculous yet engrossing plot, it all works so well together.
