super charming made for tv low budget musical movie. Chenoweth giving an astounding performance despite Broderick's unignorable failure to deliver anything once the plot takes off.

great dance sequences, darling costumes. the kids are so cute and very talented.

colors could be more vibrant but i appreciate the way the film looks and moves most of the time, i think a higher budget would have allowed for stronger/more dynamic lighting choices.

super charming and feel good, wonderful performances all around.

chenoweth truly phenom in this role.

gorgeous cinema at times and at times it's really interestingly disorienting. amazing acting performances. interesting how plot unfolds like mythology.

threadbare plot for almost two hours. really really slow start. seems to be billed/positioned as "an exploration on what makes us human" but then the antagonist/obstacle is an angry god? who can be defeated at literally any time and with no consequences?

translated subtitles, so who knows if there was stuff we missed.

could have been cool- and lots of moments of really touching sentiment and sincerity- but to me seems like it gets in its own way.

visually stunning every scene looked like an oil painting. Maine.... new england roads take me home to the place i belong. such gorgeous on-location scenes. also gorgeous sound stage scenes with painted backgrounds!

acting and vocal performances are really delicious and strong, If I Loved You shot GORGEOUSLY.

lowered rating bc i felt like they slowed down June Is Bustin' Out All Over too much and also they cut bangers (You're A Queer One, Blow High Blow Low) and that made me sad bc i think they could've fit.

just a phenomenal movie like wow we used to have cinema. every shot, every outfit, every hairstyle, it's so gorgeous. child actress playing reagan giving an absolutely brilliant performance (early scene in her bed w her and her mother had me feeling insecure as an actor). we used to have CINEMA. very cool to watch a 70s horror film made before so many modern horror tropes (and obviously inspired so many of them). wonderful performances. delicious tone, really believable relationships, very cool to have "reluctance to do what must be done" driving the plot.
