The Secret of Roan Inish is an interesting example of an ADAPTED SCREENPLAY. It is based on the short story Secret of the Ron Mor Skerry. Director John Sayles wrote the screenplay because he wanted to explore themes of regional folklore and the power of storytelling in creating culturally specific myths.
