Damien Chazelle is my favorite director for a number of reasons. Every movie he makes is an absolute visual, technical, and musical treat. So believe it or not I actually really relate to the main character in this movie. His cutthroat actions and no-nonsense demeanor felt reminiscent of Jordan Belfort, another character that I definitely see myself in. Patrick Bateman’s choice of style and the distinctly commanding way he talks to his peers, juniors, and seniors often reminded me of actions that I myself would have taken. You wouldn’t know this, of course, but my friends actually call me by the nickname “Sub-Zero”…
