I think the writing a bit melodramatic, but there’s some great acting from young actors here, well written character moments and great cinematography and coloring that manages to make a somewhat mundane story look interesting in a visual sense.

A deeply personal set of interweaving stories set in a strange and lively LA
Slow to start and relatively slow paced, I was ready to call this one meandering and juvenile. Though as it went on and characters are continually expanded upon, I realized this movie is deeply immersive snd its pacing is not at all a detriment. It lets you get to know the characters, Seeing the everyday lives of these people, the mundane and the tragic gives a sense of familiarity and when something “finally” happens it feels like a genuine lifelike development .

Extravagant & opulent historical fiction, love the set and costume design. The framing and cinematography holds up really well, there’s a crazy since of scale that complements the on screen chemistry between Claudette Colbert and anyone opposite of her, giving a sense of importance to the characters and their interactions.

Fun casual watch, has beautiful lightning an interesting shots but lacks anything comparable to the first as the most interesting parts of the movie are direct homages to what make the first film so enjoyable.
