i loveddd the first half the world building was amazing, bong joon ho is a master at that but the second half didn’t really land for me the way I was expecting it to. no complains really, I love how bizarre and structurally fluid the movie is but i do think he was trying to hit home too many points in the second half and my attention was split between what i felt were several separate movies.

In each single frame, this movie unfolds itself as a hymn to love, all kinds of love. love one has for their soulmate, their country, their culture, their parents, and humanity. It’s almost like love is the deity this movie worships and I don’t think it gets better than that.
it’s long and un-fucking-realistic and not for everyone but my heart has never been the same and it aches me everyday that love like this isn’t written in everyone’s destiny.
