  A beautiful, almost poetic meditation on how revenge is utterly unfulfilling. It was mesmerising in places, with occasional flares of magical realism and a first chapter that keeps you on your toes as flashbacks, dream sequences and the narrative collide.

  Exactly the right kind of schlock. Silly, creative, tapping in to big ideas, violent and bursting at the seams with inventiveness.

  It's just a shame that Schwarzenegger is here. I like the Austrian Oak when he's used well (True Lies, Terminator, Predator etc.) but he just doesn't have the range for this one. Michael Ironside is an absolute gem though and Dean Norris is always appreciated. The rest of the cast however look like they would be more at home…
