The Brutalist 2024
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
The quickest 4-hours of my life.
Absolutely beautiful filmmaking on all-fronts, from the script to the performances to the editing to the score (chefs kiss!)
Desperately want to give this a full 5-stars but unfortunately, that epilogue drags down what is otherwise a perfect film in my eyes.
That ending sequence just feels so unnecessarily at odds stylistically and tonally to everything that's come before, and ultimately made me question whether ending in the particular way that it does was really the best way to communicate and encapsulate the message it was trying to get across.
