The first half of The Brutalist (before the intermission), was actually quite good. Although shaggy in places, the plot and direction is clear and I watched wondering, why has this film been so controversial?
Then…the second half. The movie completely lost the plot after the intermission, and all the strong storytelling and world making that had been done quickly unraveled. While all the actors gave a tremendous performance (Brody was incredible) he could not save this sinking ship.
