okay I see now why ehren kruger was picked for SCREAM 3. too bad he was forced to implement unnecessary comedy and tone down the violence, would've likely made another super solid thriller otherwise.

“Fuck this franchise”.
Many thoughts, but I’ll keep it pretty brief and without important spoilers.
On a technical level, I have to say that this is a major improvement over V — which admittedly suffered due to COVID protocols. Here, fake New York City looks believable, with backdrops that pop and much better color grading. You can rest easy, this ain’t no Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes a Boat. Although, that gets a cute nod.

ti west’s understanding of the horror genre shines bright at every corner, from the immaculate recreation of a grimy 70s motion picture to the interesting juxtaposition between sex and slashers presented here, as well as a few delicious nods to all-timers such as PSYCHO and THE SHINING. the third act had me jumping throughout and that batshit ending… secured X’s classic status.
will be revisiting this every summer season like i do with the original TEXAS CHAINSAW.
