A near perfect adaptation of one of the greatest novels ever written. It's possibly Orson Welles' best work. If it had only kept the ending as it was in the book, I would honestly be willing to call it a perfect movie. But man, the changes they made to the brutal and haunting final scene of the book do bring it down somewhat, even if everything else is immaculate. Still a masterpiece nonetheless, and proof that a brilliant filmmaker can adapt Kafka's work beautifully.
