i hoped i might feel differently about this film on a second watch but im still underwhelmed. for a movie called anora, i still don’t feel like we know enough about her. how does she feel about her job? about her relationship with ivan? is she happy with their arrangement? this surface level writing is also why the ending didn’t work for me. with the lack of insight into her life, it’s completely unearned.
that being said, mikey madison INNOCENT! 5 stars for her incredible performance that is the best thing about this movie by a mile!
