    It's a 2.5 hour gothic horror set in pre-Revolution France that follows a French naturalist and his Native American martial artist sidekick, who decide to hunt a werewolf that's terrorizing the countryside, but also there are several romances, plus a mysterious cult, and also the naturalist knows martial arts too, and they all take turns wearing tricorn hats better than anyone has ever worn them.

    I don't know, this really SHOULD work. But somehow, reading the plot description on Wikipedia…

    Professional sports are quite silly, and this movie gets that. The heightened emotions, the buckets of sweat, the pounding synth score kicking in at the most unlikely times...all culminating in a low-stakes challenger tournament? Genius. Best live action tennis anime for sure.

    10 Cloverfield Lane was such a surprise. Great performances, tight plot with high tension, and a slight expanding of the universe laid out in the original Cloverfield. 

    The Cloverfield Paradox was surprising in entirely different ways.  Confusing characters motivations, events that don’t flow particularly well in sequence, and almost nothing added to the mythology of Cloverfield. I like the idea of creating a franchise that doesn’t have to be a “monster movie” with each installment. However, making the 100th “trapped…
