As someone who also has a complicated family dynamic, I adored this and was left with the lingering feeling that maybe I should call my dad.
It’s beautiful, it’s moving, it’s simply a gorgeous exploration of what stories and memories mean to different people and subsequently why we tell stories at all and what our choice to means
If somebody told me Elaine May wrote this I would’ve watched it in a heartbeat. As it stands I’ve come to this movie far later than it deserves, however, every moment past birth is far later than this movie deserves.
A fantastic and absolutely fucking hilarious flick. It has such a narrow lane to travel finding its line between comedy and tragedy, and it finds its footing at every opportunity. It convinces you of the heartbreak of queer people hiding themselves, whilst also making you laugh at the farce of it all.
Not to mention career defining performances from Nathan Lane, Robin Williams, and Hank Azaria
