    This kept me guessing—slow at first, but then you see the Stasi agent, Wiesler, become so completely absorbed in this couple’s life that he questions his previously unexamined loyalty to the state. The plot thickens very quickly. This is a near perfect film with restrained but effective acting. I highly recommend for anyone interested in the GDR era.
