I think I speak for a lot of people when I say the first thing I would do if I saw a dead body would be to film it. That's the world we live in. Pic or it didn't happen. 24/7 news and media buzzards like TMZ have helped curate a world of fear and distrust in what we see. There's always gonna be some jackass that doesn't buy the crazy shit that's happened to you because you didn't record…
There's just too much. All an artist wants to do is make good art. It's everyone else who has to go and fuck it up. The people trying to make as much money off of your art as possible, milking your consumers out of every penny, manipulating into schemes and ruining reputations, all for just a slice of the pie. It's a mess, and no one likes it, and I'd bet that it's the main reason why art is abandoned,…
It should come to no surprise that the demented and furiously edgy mind of buttfart Lars von Trier makes for the perfect creative for a depiction of American depravity. A system wrecked in desperation and corruption, both trickling down from the bigger folks that corrupt them. When will it be too late? When will the pain boil over and start to fight back? Are we stuck being victims of victims? I think it will be big, dramatic, and tragic, but I think that the evil will always get who comes for it. How far away from Dogville did you live?
It wasn't until I watched it again recently that I understood the title of the movie. In this terrible plateau of the information age, the world is not only on fire, but everyone knows about it, some of us lucky enough to have high resolution visual aid for the fire. If some nuclear bullshit truly happens, it will probably be because we gave too much incompetence too much power. If we end the human world, it will be because we…
Does it narratively make sense all the way through? Mostly, but not really. Does it's scope match the impact it actually has? Often not, I'd say. But it does succeed in making me constantly terrified and shocked at the darkness this movie is willing to wade through. This film is evil, folks. You aren't given any reason for there's no time for it, and often that pans out great for how shocking this film is and how well it is…
Time is the enemy of fate, for when we realize where we are fated to be, it's already out of our reach. The life we wanted, the life we're living, suddenly challenged by a memory of the life once had. Before constantly trying to do the best you can conjure, before being clouded by wanting and changing, there was a simpler life where we didn't want anything more than life with someone you love. The pressures of time wear down…
