This is a super weird one because this movie only exists for the "Battle of Agincourt", one of the most famous ones of the 100YW. However Henry IV's usurpation of Richard II or even earlier the beginning of the war - or in contrast the end of the war, the Orlean-phase, and Henry VI's transition into the Rose-wars would've both been more interesting than the life of Henry V.
But they wanted this battle SO hard and still completely ignored…
Sadly this movie completely chokes on its lack of budget. I think this could've worked better through better visual means but failed due to the makers' inability to get the job done without it. Especially for a bottle-movie, there needs to be excellent acting, great performances and an understanding of the never-ending conflict of the human condition. None of that is here.
Acting is super flat and purposefully so, it seems. "Souls show less emotions than living beings" - you…
I unironically still love this movie. One of the most consistent and beautifully shot Superhero movies out there. I like this movie because it is exactly what people DIDN'T want at the time of Marvel's most unbroken phase of its monopoly. I don't care for Martha and I don't care about the supposed assassination of Superman's generally unconvincing, uncorruptable character. I love the Injustice comic-storyline and they really had something going here until Justice League ruined it all.
I'm not a fan of Park's other farcical films but this has to be the most beautiful revenge movie ever. For me this is the 2001 of revenge movies - even though its budget is limited, it has a frightening understanding how all of its components work together. How sound leads into a word and a word changes an entire scene and vice versa. Also have to mention the brilliant concept how the "revenger" is secretly the one whom vengance is acted upon. Absoulte gut-punch this movie.
