this movie took such great pains to stay faithful to the story and yet this is some of the most sorry acting i’ve ever seen. this really could have been so much better had any of the characters besides the monster be believable or pitiable to any degree. i’d almost shut the movie off before de niro showed up, though not to mention he is strangely bald in this depiction of the creation; a bold move for sure but a…
an incredible film making excellent use of a claustrophobic setting. the characters are just as believable as the zombies and all in all this is one of the best movies i’ve ever seen.

my interpretation of the ending is that the lawyer is aware that he is indeed talking to patrick bateman; who killed paul, and patrick then realizes that he knows this. what patrick wants is to create a scene and be recognized, to the point of killing. its important that characters in this movie are constantly misnamed and confused for others. they’re too forgettable and interchangeable. patrick wanted to have something to his name. the lawyer however, preferring to be one…
while this movie strayed from the plot of the book, i appreciate that it was for established reasons. for example, the creature is nearly brain dead, but it’s because the brain was damaged. i also appreciate how victor is portrayed as being in the wrong, something not common in early adaptations of the book. i felt that the movie was a little fast paced and even rushed at times, but that’s simply attributable to the length of movies during this time period. overall i quite enjoyed this film, and christopher lee’s portrayal is phenomenal despite not speaking a single line.
