Joker: Folie à Deux 2024
This movie is both amazing to look at and awful to listen to. The shots Todd Phillips put together, especially in IMAX, look phenomenal. But, pretty much everything else about this film doesn’t work. The trailers may mislead you to believe this is a bigger more sprawling story but it’s really contained and small. If this film had anything to say I must have missed it. 90% of the songs just don’t work and always start at the absolute worst time. Phoenix and Gaga are giving pretty solid performances to characters that are flatter than the comic pages they come from.
