Angelopoulos conveys emotion through cinema in a way I didn't know was possible, I kept finding myself on the brink of tears I can only explain as getting overwhelmed by the sense of human connection he managed to get across. Which is a purely artistical thing, it's somehow lost in hollywood.

Short Sharp Shock 1998
The pacing, the acting, the characters and the vibes are phenomenal, but I just couldn't shake off the feeling it could've been a classic like trainspoting if the plot was just a little bit "smarter". It feels like an imitation of classic italian mafia movies with a very surface level understanding of the subject. It just lacks the literary value that made those movies classics.
I mean the plot isnt bad or anything but the movie is technically executed so well that it feels like a shame it didn't go that extra mile, it easily could've been on a whole different league.
