    Don't believe the studio's marketing bots. This film is essentially devoid of sex or romance, and frames Zendaya's character as a woman only interested in the competition (whether between men vying for her or an opponent on the tennis court). How young audiences supposedly so progressive can celebrate a woman so vapid, I'm stumped. Then, to top that off, there's the end of the film with its uninspired nouvelle vague freeze frame, that simply says bros before hoes.

    The Misogyny of Sofia Coppola

    I want to believe that Sofia Coppola is intentionally burning down her one-trick cinematic pony - the coming-of-age story - with her latest “Priscilla,” but I fear I will be wrong and she'll just make another. “Priscilla” is a story-less, albeit chronological series of vignettes, in which Priscilla Presley is portrayed as a submissive cuck to the apparent focal point of the film which is the rising superstar Elvis, her emotional and quasi-physical abuser.
