Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes 2024
Another instalment, another drop off in how much I care. New group and new direction in story offers possibilities but nothing to write home about in this chapter. Wasn’t too invested in the story but the visuals are nice and always cool to see the mocap in action and improving but its starting to feel minimal now. It’s left on a cliff hanger so I’ll undoubtedly watch the next in time but probably won’t be going to the cinema for it

Unnerving and did a good job of a horror-thriller. Nicolas cage disgusted me and owes a lot to the make-up department. I forget there’s an element of supernatural in horror films and this one was tolerable for me. I’m just not a horror person but this was solid. Lead actress was great and the twist was well done albeit basic. Good performances all round whilst a large part of the success was filmography and music

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga 2024
It’s a good movie, action scenes are great, build up of suspense and the escalations were a thrill but something just didn’t do it for me. I might not be in the best state of mind to have properly enjoyed it and I just kind of felt nothing afterwards. The back story makes Fury Road even sadder and better in retrospect and probably worth another watch. Hemsworth is really good and I hated his character, Taylor Joy seemed the perfect casting but I don’t buy her reactions to what happened to her character; the kid was better tbh
