finished “the residence” on netflix, and a review name dropped “the last of sheila” as a spiritual predecessor in the genre of a true, classic whodunnit. so, of course, i decided to watch it — and above all this was a fun, smart, twisty movie!! this is what whodunnits should be, imo.
few various notes and quibbles:
- LITTLE CHILD MOLESTER??? on the same note as shoplifting??? crazy scale being employed there.
- lowkey unintentionally fascinating identity work they’re doing with “homosexual” as a past & done but not incorrect identity
- really did have me wondering if i had hallucinated a card before the ending lol
