PTA does it again, adeptly handling romance and masculinity in subtle and effective ways, while transporting the audience into another one of his distinctive worlds, where you’re never sure whose going to be around the next corner. (Once Waits & Penn appear, it really kicks up a notch)
The sprawling narrative stays loose and hilarious throughout, while containing some harrowing sequences, especially what might be the most suspenseful set piece involving a truck since Sorcerer.
It’s pure cinematic magic, and is complimented by every department at the top of their game, with the cast rife with memorable, funny, and endearing performances.
