OH MY GOD. This movie made me insanely emotional, and I’m so glad I watched in from the comfort of my own home. It gave me so many memories of when I played with Barbies, and how many young women she’s been influenced by. The only negative thing I have to say is was this a Barbie movie or is this a Chevy ad? It just completely takes back the meaning of this movie.
I’ve been wanting to watch this musical for a while because so many people rave about it. This was just way too hard to understand for me. There’s so much symbolism in this and it just flew right over my head during my watch through. The movie has an amazing story and is beautifully shot, but there are SO MANY UNNECESSARY SCENES!!! We get it. He’s obsessed with this family. I got that before he was fingering Venetia while she was on her period and drinking Felix’s jizzy bath water. The ending was amazing, but these “shock value” scenes did not make up for it. This is definitely one of those movies I’d watch once, hopefully forget about it, and never watch it again.
