When I was a child, I would make stop motion 'animations' with my teddies. As a teenager, I watched The League of Gentlemen for the first time and decided then and there that I wanted to be a screenwriter. A Wallace and Gromit film starring Reece Shearsmith is a match made in my personal heaven. I enjoyed every second of this.
The animation is fantastic, the jokes were on point and the performances were great (Norbot has that perfect mix of funny and offputting that Reece does so well. Excellent casting). What a lovely Christmas present Aardman has given us all
The craftsmanship on this film is phenomenal. While all elements were great, it was the sound design that stood out to me. At times it was such a barrage of noise that I felt like I was being physically thrown around. I'm still a bit shaken as I'm writing this
I think watching this film so soon after finishing the book worked to my detriment, because I spent a good chunk of the film comparing it to its source material. American Psycho is a rather faithful adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis' novel in terms of plot, but even with the voiceover revealing some of Bateman's thoughts it cannot capture the full richness of his novel counterpart's internal monologue, leaving some of the less action oriented scenes feeling a little bit…
