The choreography, costume design, production design, musical score, singing, and lyrics are just firing on all cylinders and it’s amazing. One of my personal favorite aspects is the fact that it’s not like a typical musical where the characters stop what they’re doing and sing and dance but instead, the numbers play out either in the characters heads or they’re exaggerated enough where they feel disconnected from the reality (in a good way). Solid effects and cinematography, the acting was fine but nothing exceptional, and that's really it.
The characters weren't that interesting or memorable. Rain and Andy in particular weren't engaging. The idea of an android being a surrogate brother to Rain is decent on paper, but it never felt more than that. Because the characters weren't that engaging on their own and the acting was overall ok, I never found a reason to get as invested as the film wanted me…
