Hearing Country Roads blasting to start off an anime was a welcome surprise. Another gem to round out my movie marathon. Studio Ghibli can go pound for pound with Pixar or the title of greatest animation studio of all time.

Chinatown 1974
Definitely a really good movie. Not predictable, and a great ending. Jack is phenomenal as always. It does seem to think it’s a bit deeper than it actually is, however. Chinatown as a place where no good deed goes unpunished is interesting, and Gittis’ past trauma shines through, but I’m not sure theres much more to it besides that.

The Sound of Music 1965
All time great musical. Amazing performances all around in both acting and singing, but especially Georg. When he sings for the first time it is immaculate. Iconic and influential music, with the tone shift of the last half hour justified by the undercurrent followed throughout the film. From a cheerful tale of found family and love through music, to one of the most suspenseful scenes you will ever see.
