  just like Rick himself, the unoccupied territory of Casablanca revels and lavishes its own mysteries and desires. and just as how Rick asserts his neutrality in WWII, Casablanca invites the exploits of humanity. the plot is a lot more loose than I would have liked it, and I admit a couple scenes are a bit of a snooze fest. however the film beautifully captures the illusive nature of the city. it’s almost as the city was made for the film, with a fitting noir setting

  Very lucky to have seen the premiere of this very capturing film. I was really impressed by everything despite some loose ends to the plot. The film ended up being much closer to home than expected, and without saying too much, the actors really nailed a bleak but moving portrayal of Melbourne’s prison life and characteristic, without the film feeling like a carbon copy of other Hollywood films (especially prison films).   This film is literally unwatchable. Tom Hooper is not a good director and whoever worked on this film should be sacked. There is no cinematography AT ALL. This movie won BEST PICTURE. This is probably the worst Best Picture winner ever since Crash. In fact, this movie is so fucking bad that I literally forgot that I watched this film until I saw the film here. I could only watch about 20 minutes before I gave up. This film is worse than a fucking student film. It's absolutely embarrassing this won Best Picture let alone any awards
