I had forgotten how much this film packed in. I suppose that is something that teen movies have to do if they are shooting for a certain kind of authenticity? It truly can feel overwhelming.
I do admit that I spent the whole movie just rooting for more Emma Watson and Ezra Miller. Paul Rudd played it too straight as the chill English teacher - I wanted a bit more Thomas Haden Church from Easy A.
I’m fascinated by how…
A+ music and the characters gave you enough to believe in and sell the story for the well-earned melodrama to hit. So ambitious it seems like it shouldn’t work but it is so bold it comes through. Loved it.
I was honestly surprised at how affecting I found this movie. Stallone captures the frustration, self-loathing and dreaming of his character so well. Its an interesting take on masculinity and what it means to be a man, as seen from 2022 - deeper and more tender than I thought it would be. Worth it!
Niagara was surprisingly strong. I came in with little to no expectation, besides the fact that it had to do with Marilyn Monroe and Niagara Falls, but this movie really pulled through.
The film took full advantage of the setting, the color and costumes were luxurious and radiant, and it's hard to look away from Monroe. The plot and the development of the hero/anti-hero through the whole movie is pleasingly ambiguous, and the ominous falls themselves are a real star. An unexpected delight!
