The Bridge on the River Kwai

    ★★★★

The Bridge on the River Kwai has always been hailed as a piece of iconic cinema history – a film you must watch. The film had been on my radar for a while and when it started, I didn’t fully appreciate its brilliance. The movie begins in an unassuming fashion, gradually folding into a gripping narrative that captivates the viewer’s attention. Despite its lengthy runtime, not a single moment feels wasted.

    ★★

Reddit convinced me that this film would be one of the most disturbing pieces of cinema I could ever witness, and the scenes would haunt my mind. The Disney machine has spat out tired tropes, dull characters, and a lifeless…

    Concrete Utopia

    ★★★★

Concrete Utopia utilises the backdrop of a catastrophic end-of-the-world event to demonstrate the shades of humanity in its primal and animalistic nature. This movie conveys the basic social need for shelter and community, illustrating how a building can become the ultimate desire for those living there and the envy of those outside. In the beginning, the audience sees an apartment building as a shining beacon - the only hope for civilisation amidst destruction. The place evolves into its own character,…
