Only love survives. In a post-apocalyptic world everybody's struggling with survival, only that people on the surface eat other people (!!!) out of desperation. Louison is like Jesus, maybe a bit naive, but he brings love and good and beauty in a house full of hatred. He starts changing people around him and shows that love is possible.

I think what the film's got to say for me is that your looks, your occupation, your social status don't define who you really are. Porco is a pig, a hero that isn't a hero, a pirate hunter but also an egoist, he likes to be alone and can take care for himself.
